Will Esports overtake actual sports in the future?

With the current advancement of technology, esports is quickly becoming a growing business. The formation of many gaming teams left and right have proven that one could actually make a living off playing online games. Many esports tournaments are being held worldwide with alluring prize pools that are comparable with those of regular sports. Surely esports will soon overtake actual sports in the future?
“The industry of gaming is skyrocketing every second, online games are getting more and more competitive. It is already possible to make a living off playing online games, who knows what the future holds for us” said Todd Frye CEO of GIGABYTE computer industries.
Almost every aspect of esports can be comparable to sports. One might argue sports require long periods of training and practice for the athletes to pull off the amazing feats they do regularly. But one cannot deny that esports also require a high level of hand-eye coordination, reflexes and strategic thinking in order to achieve good results, accomplishing these feats is already amazing in itself.
“I am able to earn money by doing what I love. The money usually comes from sponsors and products that I endorse, like gaming keyboards and gaming mice” said international esports gamer Dendi.

Whether esports will eventually overtake actual sports in the future is still a faraway thought, but what we can say for sure is that the esports industry is growing like never before and we can see a big difference in sports compared to what we see today.
